Whatever heat relief we got earlier in July, summer is back in full force in August. I have never lived anywhere quite like Texas in summer. You step outside the front door and it literally feels like somebody is pointing a few hair blowers right at you. There is a tiny bit of air flow. But it hits the skin hot.
Seems like the perfect time to stay in-doors and crank on the A/C that I almost blew out during a DIY project. Take it from me: don’t disconnect a thermostat without shutting off the A/C unit first. For a brief moment I wondered if there was an analogy hidden in there somehow, a bigger life lesson. But maybe some things don’t need any further interpretation. They happen, we learn, we move on. Now I know for future projects: shut off A/C, disconnect and move thermostat. Turn A/C back on and you’re golden. Simple as that.
Here are the small things that brought me joy this week!

It’s been a while since I’ve been able to take the little one out for a walk (heat and his back problems). We went out early one morning and took a small round. Enough for him to sniff around, short enough to not bother his back. He seemed very happy.
I am yet to see a sunset or sunrise that I don’t like!
Cut some blue plumbago flowers from the yard. They are so pretty.
Date night at our fav Vietnamese place!
This episode is a little bit ‘out there’, but it still have relevant insights and snippets. It’s basically a podcast about living in alignment and trusting your gut, but from the perspective of a medium.
There are a little over 7 weeks left until we are in October, so I feel like it’s ok to start dreaming about fall! One thing that I love doing is bringing little moments of fun into the everyday. A few years ago I bought a ghost mold for ice cubes (or maybe originally meant for candy). I freeze some plant milk in the molds to make my iced coffee a little extra fun.
Molds come in all different kind of shapes and sizes. I couldn’t find the ones that I got online anymore, but if you search for ghost molds, there are may different options that pop up!
If there is one thing I have learned this week it’s: Never underestimate a home project! 🤪 😂
I’ve summarized the update of week two on this project below. It includes plans on framing and choices for finish designs!
